Chapter Fifteen
Cameron Drake: Fifteen years old
I sat relaxed back in the chair. This wasn’t the first time I had been in the damn office, and this wouldn’t be the last. Principal Tucker sat across from me, staring directly at me. I knew he wasn’t surprised to see me here, but his staring was getting old. I glanced up from under my hood, and smirked.
“Got a staring problem?” I asked. Tucker arched an eyebrow, and leaned back in his leather chair.
“No Cameron, I don’t. I’m just trying to figure you out son. Why do you keep fighting?” he asked.
I laughed. He had no fucking clue why, and he never would. He probably thought it was because people were picking on me, but the truth was, I was fighting something that couldn’t be touched. I was hitting flesh when I hurt other people, but yet, I was hitting thin air. I would never be able to touch what I really wanted to hurt. Never.
“That’s something you’ll have to keep guessing at Tuck,” I said.
His pale blue eyes scanned me over. I could see the wheels turning inside that thick head of his. He could look all he wanted, but he would never see anything. I didn’t let my demons show on the outside. Hell no. I kept those fuckers deep within my soul, that way, one day I’d be able to let them out fully. Then, shit would hit the fan.
The door to his office opened, and in came my father. I was surprised he showed up, but since my mother was out of town, he had no choice. He looked just as shitty as he always did. His clothes were worn, dirty, and he smelled of beer. Principal Tucker never paid any attention to this though. He avoided the questions to why I came to school with bruises or why I looked underweight. I was a Drake. The family made of ghosts.
“I’m sorry about this Principal Tucker,” dad said. I rolled my eyes, and stood up. I already knew I was suspended from school, but I didn’t care. This had been my fifth fight in two weeks, and I was surprised to have actually made it this long. Principal Tucker stood up and stuck his hand out like he was going to shake my fathers. I smirked. He knew better. I hated my father, but if we agreed on anything, it was that these assholes with high dollar clothes and money out the ass were just that. Asses.
I watched as dad glanced at his hand, and then his eyes. “Did the other boy get hurt?” he asked. I stood behind him, wondering how Tuck was going to explain this. Hell yeah he got hurt. I fucked his world to hell, and then some. I wouldn’t have stopped either if it weren’t for one of the coaches pulling me off. It was a long time coming in my eyes. Jared had made my life a living hell for far too long, and this time he paid.
